More than 100 years later, the crew was exploring the seas confused with sightings unidentified object that emerged from the sea and fly at high speed. Ivan T Sanderson, in his book Invisible Resident (1970) states that the USO is evidence of another intelligence under water which is developing civilization.

"If there is a kind of technologically superior civilization evolved in planet under water, then this civilization seems to be more advanced than our civilization, about a few million maybe even billions of years ahead of us."

Of course, this argument can not be proven. However, Sanderson is not alone because this understanding is also believed by many parties.

For those who are more skeptical, an explanation of this sighting can vary from one view to engineering. It can not be denied if there is a chance the crew had seen a natural phenomenon and expected it as the USO. Such incidents happen in many cases of UFO sightings. But the question is, what natural phenomena that have characteristics in accordance with the description of the witness statements?

This is still not ensured:

Some others believe that the USO is often seen is actually a torpedo that was speeding. However, the torpedo did not fly into the air. This does not match the description witnesses. So, others put forward the theory that the USO is in fact a sophisticated military aircraft.

This theory is also often used to describe reports of UFO sightings. If we associate with the USO military aircraft, then that means just one: the plane must be an aircraft that is able to dive into the water and then flew quickly. Interestingly, this type of aircraft was never there, at least in prototype form.

In 1934, Boris Petrovich Ushakov, an engineering student from the Soviet military academy, filed a flight plan that could dive in the water. According to Eugene Handler, an engineer of the navy, this aircraft is ideal for attacking the Soviet ships in the Baltic Sea and the Caspian. However, Convair turned out to suffer the same fate with RFS-1. In fact, Convair had not made a prototype for the project was canceled congress in 1966.

On similar aircraft USO passion never faded from the minds of the American military. In 2008, DARPA, the Pentagon's research agency, announced that it has initiated the project of making subplane.
